How to unlock your Bootloader (Xperia 2011 Devices)[GUIDE]

“What is a bootloader and why do I need to unlock it? “
At its most basic level, your Android smartphone is like a hard drive, made of up several partitions. One of those partitions holds the Android system files, another holds all the app data and etc. Think of the bootloader as a security checkpoint for all those partitions. Because if you’re able to swap out what’s on those partitions, you’re able to break things if you don’t know what you’re doing.
Unlocked Bootloader gives you the ability to flash ROMs. What this means is that if you have a phone that has an unlocked bootloader and root access, you can flash custom made ROM’s by top developers or even create a ROM for your phone and flash it with a couple more steps. This also means that you can get access to most of the features in the latest version of Android that is commercially available, without having to wait for your manufacturer or carrier to give you an official update.
Why is a Bootloader locked in the first place ?
A bootloader is usually locked on an Android device because although it’s an open source OS, still the manufacturers want you to stick to their Android OS version specifically designed for the device. In order to apply this concept, manufacturers lock the bootloader. With a locked bootloader on Android devices, it is virtually impossible to flash a Custom ROM and forced attempts void warranty as well as usually end up in bricks. Therefore, the first step is to always unlock the bootloader.

I don’t take any responsibility if something happens to your phone. You do everything on your risk! Unlocking your bootloader may void your warranty !

  1. First, you should confirm that it is possible to unlock the bootloader of your phone. Open the Dialer and enter *#*#7378423#*#* .
  2. Go to Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked.
  3. Dial *#06# on your smartphone to view your IMEI number
  4. Go to Sony Website and accept any Terms in order to continue.
  5. Fill the Form with Name, First 14 digits of your IMEI and email to continue. This will generate a bootloader unlock key.
  6. In Flashtool-> Plugins -> Bootloader Unlock -> Run. Follow the instructions on Flashtool. After you connect your phone in Flashtool you will be asked for the Key that you got from the Sony Website on your Email.
  7. That’s it you now have a unlocked bootloader and can flash new custom ROM’s

Installing Clockwork recovery mod on Xperia 2011 Devices[GUIDE]

Why do I need CWM ?
CWM allows you to perform several advanced recovery, restoration, installation and maintenance operations on your Android device that aren’t possible with the stock recovery, and is one of the most common ways used to gain root access, back up device data, install a custom ROMs, kernels, themes, mods and more.

The most simple way to do that is by following these steps:
1. Go to Google Play Store and Download x-Parts
2. Launch the app and go to Installs.
3. Install CWM and follow the instruction on the screen.
4. Everything should be fine after the reboot and when you hold back + power key (vol down+power key for smartphones with sensor keys) you should have access to CWM.

How to Root 4.0.4 (4.1.B.0.587 & 4.1.B.0.431) 2011 Xperia Devices[GUIDE]

First of all I would like to give you some info before you start rooting.
“Why should I root my device?”
Rooting the device means getting control over the system files of the OS. That means you can do anything you want with it the way you like it. For example you can remove bloatware(the apps you don’t use/need and can’t remove by default), overclock your cpu for maximum performance, access really useful applications that requires root, apply custom ROM’s, increase battery life and much much more …

“Isn’t it dangerous for my smartphone?”
It was dangerous a long time ago. Now there are apps that can “resurrect” your phone. The chance of hard bricking your device while rooting is less then 0.5%.

I don’t take any responsibility if something happens to your phone. You do everything on your risk !
